Good Friday: God’s undeniable love for us through the cross

“It was now two days before the Passover and the Feast of Unleavened Bread. And the chief priests and the scribes were seeking how to arrest him by stealth and kill him, for they said, “Not during the feast, lest there be an uproar from the people.”
– Mark 14:1-2

Good Friday is just 2 days away! Round about this time Jesus was still teaching and doing many things in Jerusalem. But as the chief priests now hatch a sinister plot to arrest Jesus, not many at this point knew that Jesus only had a couple of days left in his short time on earth.

Many of us have grown accustomed to celebrating Good Friday year after year and perhaps it no longer grips us as it should. It may feel just like another holiday in our calendars.
But Good Friday has cataclysmic implications for Christians and all people! It is the day that we see God demonstrating undeniable love for us and where we find God’s final solution to the big problem of sin that has plagued mankind ever since the beginning.
As we approach Good Friday let’s take a moment to reflect over just how great a saviour we have in Jesus and what he has secured for us on the cross. Let’s also be praying hard for all of our loved ones and friends who have yet to hear or receive the wonderful news of the gospel.
